6 Ways To Keep The Frizz At Bay!
Let's face it... our natural hair is prone to frizz, especially in heat and humidity. It has to be one of the top complaints amongst naturals, no matter the hair type or length. We all share common hate: frizz. Since the heat and humidity are kicking up figured I'd share some more tips for helping you combat frizz this season. 1. Get those split ends in check. Trimming your ends every 6-8 weeks will ensure that your ends aren't split which can lead to frizz, frizz & more frizz.
2. Rinse hair with cold water. Seal the hair cuticle by rinsing with cold water. Coldwater not only smoothens the cuticle, which helps diminish frizz, but it also locks the hair follicle making the hair sleeker and shinier.
3. Avoid using a towel to dry hair. Drying your hair with a towel can cause breakage, fiction, and those dreaded split ends. While in the shower try to get as much water out with your hands as possible. Dry hair with either an old t-shirt or microfiber towel as it will soak up excess water without disturbing the cuticle.
4. Apply products to dripping wet hair. To reduce frizz, try adding products to your hair when wet starting with a leave-in conditioner like Miss Jessie's Leave-In Condish. Once you've applied your leave-in, continue with the LOC Method to ensure your hair gets retains its moisture.
5. Limit the amount of heat used. The constant use of heat styling tools, such as blow dryers or flat irons, can leave hair dry and damage which results in more frizz. It's important to use a silicone-based serum before applying heat to protect hair and control frizz.
6. Ditch the cotton for satin. Cotton and other materials can dry out the hair as well as cause frizz. Satin pillowcases and/or scarves not only reduce the frizz-causing friction by minimizing hair breakage and reducing split ends, but they help keep moisture in the hair.
