Last month, I posted a video made by Cut Video that focused on the evolution of fashion and beauty trends, over the past one hundred years. Entitled 100 Years of Beauty in One Minute, this video clip featured time traveling, makeover glamazon, model Nina Carduner, as the canvas for eleven different looks, each one representing the height of feminine fashion for every decade, from 1910 until 2010. I think this is a brilliant concept for a video, because the ability to visualize the progression of glamour trends in this condensed format provides a poignant lesson in history, while simultaneously appeasing the need for instant gratification that characterizes our current digital age. Interesting and entertaining, this video prompted me to wonder, "Had I been born in a different era, what would I look like? How would I have done my own hair and makeup?"Then it occurred to me that though Nina's beautiful hair and face made for an excellent foundation for this creative project, styles catering to curly-haired women were completely underrepresented. Theoretically, I know with patience, large amounts of time at my disposal, and complete disregard for my hair's health, I could figure out how to achieve my own adaption of Farrah Fawcet feathering or a teased and crimped side ponytail, however I know these styles just do not jive well my naturally curly texture and the results would not be as lovely as Nina's.

While I loved the overall concept itself, it did leave me thinking that, from 1910 until 2000, my only hair maintenance options would have been expensive, intensely painful chemical straightening processes OR rocking a stocking cap/wig combo, on the regs. It certainly made me feel grateful to be alive during a time in which Miss Jessie's is readily available at local retail stores. Thanks to the Miss Jessie's product line, I am able to healthily manipulate and tame my curly mane, flawlessly creating any curly style my heart desires. But what was a naturally curly cutie left to do, in the time before Miss Jessie's?

Well, now I have the answer! Cut recently released a sequel to its original beauty evolution video, this time featuring the stunning, natural textured model and curl girl, Marshay. Check out the video here!

In addition to this latest installment in the 100 Years of Beauty video saga, Cut also releases a supplementary video piece, comparing the two model's looks, side by side.

The good news is, had I grown up in past decades, I would not have been obligated to resort to the drastic measures to keep myself looking fresh and on point, as I had originally incorrectly hypothesized. I also probably would've amassed an incredibly diverse collection of chic hair accessories (1940s Marshay's Billie Holiday inspired look? Simply breathtaking!).

Each style featured on Marshay clearly possesses their own unique, gorgeous, enviable qualities, however, I think this modern era of Miss Jessie's opens a whole new door for creative curly styling opportunities.

Style on, Curly Girlies!
