For a Wet Twist Out, you will need:
- A comb
- A hairdryer with a flat nozzle
- Hair Clips (to section hair)
- Miss Jessie's Stretch Silkening Creme (Note: You may also use Curly Pudding for more elongation and shine, or Curly Meringue for a stronger hold.)
How to do a wet twist out on natural hair - 8 simple steps:
- Following a wash utilizing a nice moisturizing conditioner, such as Miss Jessie's Créme de la Créme or Créme de la Curl conditioners, make sure hair is completely rinsed out of all shower time products.
- Separate hair into workable sections.
- With hair still wet, take one piece of a larger section and divide it into 2 smaller pieces. Prepare to twist by adding a dollop of either Miss Jessie's Stretch Silkening Creme, Curly Pudding, or Curly Merengue to hair, smoothing the product on hair strands, from root to tip.
- With your 2 smaller pieces, begin your twist from root to end. Make sure the ends are smooth by twirling them with your fingers. This will prevent frizz and establish a smooth curl.
- Repeat these steps, till hair is entirely composed of twists.
- Sit under an overhead dryer for about an hour.
- Untwist hair, dividing strand into 2 loose curls. For more volume, divide into untwisted pieces into 3 or 4 curls.
- Stretch hair out from root to mid-shaft, with a hairdryer and flat nozzle attachment. This will increase volume.
*Remember, if you are wondering how to do a wet twist our on natural hair, consistency is key: Don't forget to re-twist hair strands before going to sleep! Protect twists with a satin bonnet, and when untwisting in the morning, apply a little Miss Jessie's Babybuttercreme or Curly Buttercreme for moisture, so you are ready to meet the day with bouncy, beautiful curls.
For a Dry Twist Out, you will need:
- A comb
- A hairdryer with a flat nozzle
- Hair Clips (to section hair)
- Water in a spritz bottle
- Miss Jessie's Baby Buttercreme
*Note: Dry curls are easier to manipulate, therefore take less time to work and style. This process is great for keeping curls intact in between washes. If you have an extensive amount of shrinkage, blow out hair to create more length prior to twisting, using a paddle brush and flat nozzle hairdryer. This will make the dry twist out process go much more easily, and elongate the final curly product.
Steps to a Dry Twist Out:
- Lightly dampen hair by spraying with water in a spritz bottle.
- If you need to elongate hair due to an extensive amount of shrinkage, blow out hair to add length, as stated above. This will simplify the twisting process.
- Separate hair into workable sections.
- Once hair is completely sectioned off, part hair with a comb from ear to ear, starting at the nape.
- Apply Baby Buttercreme to sectioned hair, smoothing the product on hair strands, from root to tip.
- Take 2 smaller pieces, begin your twist from root to end. Make sure the ends are smooth by twirling them with your fingers. This will prevent frizz and establish a smooth curl. Repeat these steps, till hair is entirely composed of twists.
- Sit under an overhead dryer for about an hour.
- Untwist hair, dividing strand into 2 loose curls. For more volume, divide into untwisted pieces into 3 or 4 curls. Stretch hair out from root to mid-shaft, with a hairdryer and flat nozzle attachment. This will increase volume.
