I recently attended an annual holiday work party with a friend, who works at a small, local boutique. Though I know this store has a reputation for being super trendy, I assumed that because it is the holidays, she and her co-workers would be exhausted from the grueling holiday hours, and therefore keep the event incredible casual. Apparently, I missed the memo on the dress code, because I couldn't have been more wrong.
While I was dressed in jeans, an oversized sweater, and a messy top knot bun, everyone else was dressed in their fancy pants holiday best, from head to toe. Now as a blogger and a naturally inquisitive person, my method of breaking the ice with this group of excessively elegant strangers, was inquiring about their personal styling processes. I was particularly impressed by the variety of intricate updos parading about the party and was especially surprised to discover that a majority of them had done their own hair themselves. It's true! This, of course, inspired me to do a little research of my own, and after doing a little digging; I've pieced together this composite of my favorite updo holiday hair tutorials, just for you.
1. The Bouffant
Though I have most commonly seen this look in historical footage of country music stars at the Grand Ole Opry, I think curly-haired textures takes this style to a whole new level, bringing it much more dimension and depth, in this stunning, contemporary spin.

2. The Multi Twist and Pin
Want to do something a little more eclectic than the average bun, but not as wild as a mowhawk? Give the twist, pin, and twirl a whirl!

9. Braided Up Bun

10. Chunky Twist Out (with Miss Jessie's Baby Buttercreme) Chunky twists are an excellent protective style for natural textures and can make a unique doo for the holidays. Wear them twisted up, or unravel them to release perfectly sculpted curls and coils; because even though updos possess their own beautiful charm, sometimes it's just better to let it all hang out.
