Over the weekend, I was invited to a friend's engagement party, at The Hamptons. Now, I had never been to The Hamptons before, but based on what I've read and seen on TV, I knew I would be required to really class it up, in order to turn it out and turn heads. The Hamptons are no joke, and it's been a while since I've attended such a sophisticated gathering. Even though the party was to take place on the beach, it was requested that guests come in cocktail attire. It's always exciting to get dressed up, so after breaking in my new wedges, pulling my pearls out of storage, and piecing together the perfect, regal, Michelle Obama inspired cocktail ensemble, I knew I was more than ready to show The Hamptons crowd that I could be just as elegant and refined, as any celebrity Hamptons regular. However, I was stumped about how I should style my hair.
As all curly cuties know, summertime can be a nightmare for styling any texture of curls- whether you blow it out or wash n' go, humidity still has a way of rearing it's ugly head and wrecking any style. The last thing I wanted was to look back at Facebook photos and realize I was a hot, frizz-tastic mess. I considered toting around a couple of jars from the Miss Jessie's Value Pack in my clutch, however, I was unsure of what the bathroom situation would be at the party and if I would have access to a mirror. Plus- this was a party celebrating the engagement of two of my best friends, and I wasn't going to miss a moment of this momentous occasion, for the sake of my own personal vanity. Perplexed at what to do, I took to the internet for a simple, yet chic solution. As luck would have it, I found the perfect, step by step, DIY video styling solution, perfect for any texture of curls, especially natural and transitioning curls. All you need are bobby pins and a hair tie, but we also recommend adding some Miss Jessie's Transitioner's Magic or Coily Custard for ample frizz defense around the crown. I also used a little bit of Miss Jessie's Quick Curls on the loose pieces of hair that are left out of the braids, to create perfect, polished, dainty curls to frame my face. Elegant and exquisite, this protective style is the perfect defense against humidity, allowing me to be Hamptons wedding ready in minutes! Give it a try and tell us what you think!
