The Dish on Condish, Part Deux: Deep Conditioning Treatments

The Dish on Condish, Part Deux: Deep Conditioning Treatments

Last week, I told you all about the benefits of a great hair conditioner, in the post A Dish on Miss Jessie's Condish; A Profile of Miss Jessie's Conditioner. Today I'm going to tell you all about the necessity for a regular deep conditioning treatment, for curly-haired textures. While regular conditioning will keep curly hair healthy, incorporating an intensive, deep conditioning treatment a few times a month with protect hair against the damaging and nasty elements of Mother Nature. Winter weather can be particularly rough on curls because the dry climate depletes your body of its most needed moisture, and this excessive dryness can lead to hair breakage, damage, and frizz. Also, if you are someone who enjoys playing with your natural look and utilizing the beauty enhancing tactics that have a tendency to cause breakage and hair damage, such as chemical-based hair dyes or heat-based hair styling tools, then deep conditions are a must for your routine, to keep your curls protected and healthy.

Most regular conditioners coat curls and smooth hair, but when it comes to maintaining your hair's overall health, they only protect and heal hair, on a more superficial basis. What separates regular conditioners from deep conditioners is deep conditioners possess more intense hydrating properties that can penetrate each strand of hair, thus creating soft, revitalized, and more manageable curls. For happy, healthy, shiny, well-defined curls, deep conditioning hair at least twice a month is the best way to ensure your hair remains beautiful year-round.

A Good Deep Conditioner Will:

  • Posses reparative properties and repair past heat damage
  • Protect against future heat damage
  • Detangle hair
  • Penetrate each strand with intense moisture, nourishing hair from root to tip
  • Leave hair soft and shiny, and curls bouncy and beautiful
  • Smell AMAZING!

This is honestly one of my personal favorites of the Miss Jessie's line, and though it is designed for curly girls, in particular, it is great for anyone that's experiencing an excessive amount of breakage and is in desperate needs of a special hair healing. Rapid recovery treatment has the power to restore your hair's radiant sheen and supple elasticity, penetrating curls and healing hair from the inside out. If you have ever been guilty of manipulating your natural curls and color with dyes, chemical treatments, or hot tools such as blow dryers or flat irons, this is the product for you.

How do I use it?

When I first began using this product I had a lot of breakage and damage, so I used it once a week. Now that my hair has been repaired restored back to its healthy state and I have achieved the healthy length I aspired for, I've cut back to using this product about once every week in a half to two weeks. After a nice, cleansing shampoo, apply a golf ball-sized amount to wet hair, massaging the product in from root to tip. Gently comb through hair to remove all tangles, then allow the product to sit in the hair for 10-30 minutes. The move damaged your hair is, the longer you should leave the treatment in for. Rinse out, and proceed with your regular styling. For more info on this product, Click Here.

Like in the Rapid Recovery Treatment, this product provides ultra healing and hydration to damaged, dried out curls, however, this product is also specifically designed to stimulate hair growth, naturally elongating curls and leaving them soft, supple, and frizz-free. For curly girlies who desire more length, this is the treatment for you- also, it smells sweet like bubblegum!

*NOTE: I started out using this treatment about once every week and a half to two weeks, and within three months my hair had grown about three inches. Now I personally use this in rotation with my Rapid Recovery Treatment- one week I will do a 10-30 minute process with the Rapid Recovery, and the following week I will do the same, except I would use the Super Sweetback Treatment.
